College at Brockport to hold ceremony for new academic building

The College at Brockport, State University of New York, will hold a ceremony to celebrate the start of construction?on its first new academic building since 1974.

The three-storey, 61,000 square foot liberal arts building will cost $29.3 million to construct. It uses natural light, utilizes bioretention and has open pond areas to retain rainwater. The building also includes a 200 seat auditorium and gallery space to display Brockport's E.E Cummings collection.

Darwin Prioleau, Dean of the School of the Arts, said, "The new facility will bring together five of our academic departments, provide needed gathering spaces that will facilitate interaction between our students and faculty, and help Brockport continue to strengthen our core mission of promoting student success."

The ceremony will be held on August 21, at 10.15 a.m.
